> ## Agent Instructions
> Treat taskbean/taskbean as the source of truth for product behavior.
> Use the canonical Project, Project ID, Project Key, Project Alias, Project Selector, Workspace, Tracked Project, Tracked Workspace, Discovered Workspace, Remote Workspace, Primary Workspace, Agent Session, Copilot Fork, Task, Unassigned Work, Execution Profile, Kickoff Prompt, Execution Record, and Execution Step terminology from the glossary.
> Execution terms are domain definitions, not evidence of available CLI commands or desktop controls.
> Do not infer that Windows-specific desktop features apply to the cross-platform CLI.

# Task lifecycle

> Create, start, block, edit, complete, list, remind, and remove Taskbean tasks from the CLI.

## Create and inspect work

```bash theme={"system"}
bean add "Add retry handling to the sync client"
bean list
bean list --status pending
bean list --by-project
```

Use `--project <selector>` when the current directory is not enough to identify the target Project.

## Move through the lifecycle

```bash theme={"system"}
bean start 1
bean block 1
bean edit 1 --notes "Waiting for the API contract"
bean done 1
```

Task statuses are `pending`, `in_progress`, `blocked`, and `done`.

## Add due dates and reminders

```bash theme={"system"}
bean edit 1 --due-date 2026-08-01
bean remind "Review the retry policy" "tomorrow at 9am"
```

`bean remind <title> <when>` creates a new pending Task with that reminder. It does not add a reminder to an existing Task ID.

## Correct mistakes

```bash theme={"system"}
bean edit 1 --title "Update the sync client retry policy"
bean remove 1
```

Most task commands support `--json` for agents and scripts. Use JSON when another process needs to consume the result.
