> ## Agent Instructions

# Install and update the CLI

> Install Taskbean with npm, the platform installers, or WinGet, then upgrade or uninstall safely.

## Install

Choose one channel. Taskbean records the channel in `~/.taskbean/.install-channel` so `bean upgrade` can use the matching update path.

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash npm theme={"system"}
  npm install -g taskbean
  ```

  ```bash macOS and Linux theme={"system"}
  curl -fsSL https://taskbean.ai/install | bash
  ```

  ```powershell Windows PowerShell theme={"system"}
  iwr -useb https://taskbean.ai/install.ps1 | iex
  ```

  ```powershell WinGet theme={"system"}
  winget install taskbean.taskbean
  ```
</CodeGroup>

The npm package requires Node.js 22.13.0 or later. Compiled binaries do not require Node.js.

## Upgrade

Check without changing anything:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean upgrade --check
```

Preview the update plan:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean upgrade --dry-run
```

Apply the update:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean upgrade
```

Set `TASKBEAN_NO_UPGRADE_NOTICE=1` in CI or scripts to suppress interactive update notices.

## Uninstall

Preview what Taskbean will remove:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean uninstall --dry-run
```

Keep local task data:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean uninstall --keep-data
```

Scan a directory for manually installed Taskbean skills:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean uninstall --scan ~/projects
```

If you installed through npm, finish with:

```bash theme={"system"}
npm uninstall -g taskbean
```
