> ## Agent Instructions
> Treat taskbean/taskbean as the source of truth for product behavior.
> Use the canonical Project, Project ID, Project Key, Project Alias, Project Selector, Workspace, Tracked Project, Tracked Workspace, Discovered Workspace, Remote Workspace, Primary Workspace, Agent Session, Copilot Fork, Task, Unassigned Work, Execution Profile, Kickoff Prompt, Execution Record, and Execution Step terminology from the glossary.
> Execution terms are domain definitions, not evidence of available CLI commands or desktop controls.
> Do not infer that Windows-specific desktop features apply to the cross-platform CLI.

# Agent Skill

> Install the Taskbean Agent Skill for GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and compatible coding agents.

The Taskbean Agent Skill teaches coding agents when to create, start, block, and complete tasks. Its source lives at [`.agents/skills/taskbean/SKILL.md`](https://github.com/taskbean/taskbean/blob/main/.agents/skills/taskbean/SKILL.md).

## Detect installed agents

```bash theme={"system"}
bean install --agent auto
```

Taskbean checks your `PATH` for the `copilot`, `claude`, `codex`, and `opencode` CLIs and installs the skill for each one it finds. If none are on `PATH`, the command reports an error and installs nothing. Use `--agent all` instead if you want to install for every supported agent without detecting its CLI.

Add `--global` to install in your home directory instead of the current directory.

## Install by agent

```bash theme={"system"}
bean install --agent copilot
bean install --agent claude
bean install --agent codex
bean install --agent opencode
bean install --agent all
```

Add `--global` to install in your home directory instead of the current directory.

| Agent | Install location | Verification |
| - | - | - |
| GitHub Copilot CLI | `.agents/skills/taskbean/` and `.github/skills/taskbean/` | Full end-to-end |
| Claude Code | `.claude/skills/taskbean/` | Full end-to-end |
| OpenAI Codex | `.agents/skills/taskbean/` | Full end-to-end |
| OpenCode | `.agents/skills/taskbean/` | Full end-to-end |

Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, and Roo Code have known skill directories in Taskbean's cleanup logic, but Taskbean does not claim full end-to-end verification for them.

## Configure the Codex sandbox

If Codex cannot write to `~/.taskbean`, run:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean install --agent codex --codex-sandbox
```

This adds `~/.taskbean` to the `sandbox_workspace_write` writable roots in `~/.codex/config.toml`.

## Detect drift

Check installed copies without changing them:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean update-skill --json
```

Apply the bundled skill:

```bash theme={"system"}
bean update-skill --apply
```
